Work on Standing Out ! Edgar.

1 ) Describe each picture briefly : place , characters , situation.. :

A - There are two girls. They are eating in high-school because we can see they have a tray on their knees and they are in front of the flag of the sport team. One of them is pregnant. They eat a fast food. They are young. Maybe the pregnant girl confides.

B - We can see a man and a woman in a boxing ring.Behind we see the fans. The man is old and the woman is young. They are concatrated on the upcoming combat. She is confident and determined.

C - Wee can see a young boy dancing with five other girls. They are ballet dancers. These girls are wearing a tutu. They are all ten years old.

2 ) Explain in what way these people are outsiders.. :

A - It is rare to see a pregnant girl who are so young. She can become a teenage mother.

B - It is rare to see a girl boxing. It is rather a sport of man.

C - It is rare to see a boy ballet. Usually it is rather the girls who dance ballet.

3 ) How do you react to each situation ? :

A ) I am choked to see a young pregnant girl. I think she is not aware of what she does. It is hard to bring up a child when you study. She should be have an abortion.

B ) I think that's a good thing to see a girl boxing , it is original.

C ) This picture is funny. On my opinion the boy is ridicule.

Thibault work about the movies

1) A-
They are two girls. They are teenagers. I think they are in the canteen because they are eating.
The girl on the middle will become a teenage mother because she is pregnant. Maybe she will abandon his child or she will have an abortion but as for me she will bring up his child. So I think it is a picture of Juno. The main character of this movie is Juno and is played by Ellen Page.
    B-
t's an old man, Clint Eastwood, who is speaking to a young girl. She practices boxing and she is in a match. Maybe the old man is his coach. The girl seem determined and confident. She is very concentrate for this match. In the backgroud we can see a lot of people. So I think this movie is Million Dollar Baby. The mains characters is Frankie and Maggie Fitzgerald are played by Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swan
   C-
On this picture , it's a little boy who dancing. On the background we can see girls who dancing with their tutu. He is practicing ballet. So I think it is a picture of Billy Elliot. Billy is the main character .

2)
This people are strange because on the picture one, a teenager is pregnant . On the picture two a girl practices boxing and in the picture three a boy dances the classical danse.

3)

The picture A is shocking because it is strange to see a pregnant teenager.

The picture B is amazing because the two people are determined to win.

The picture C is funny because it is unusual to see a boy who is practicing ballet.

I think it is difficult for them to fit in the society.

Soumare Fenda :Standing out

Today I will describe three pictures of three different film:
On the first pictures we can see two teenagers girl a high school junior : she are eating in their school canteen because I can see a flag school. We can also see one of the girl is pregnant, she is confide on her friend.this situation is very frequent in own day because girl will be studied and look after the baby.
In the pictures two we can see a girl, she is very concentrate and determined.Behind the girl we can see a man he is quikly old. The girl is into a boxing ring ,maybe she is prapare for a match.
In the last pictures we can see a boy he is practise ballet he is very concentrate and confident.Behind we can see a several girl she wear tutu.

Sarah's Work about: Standing Out

1/ Describe each picture briefly : place, characters, situation...

On picture A , we can see two teenagers who are maybe eating in a fast-food restaurant. Their manner of dress shows that they are teenagers. One of them is pregnant. In the background, we see a flag with three colors but i don't know what it corresponds.

On picture B, we can see a teenager sporting themselves with his father or his coach. The girl sweats, I think they are competing because I see world in the background and the girl is on a boxing ring.

On picture C, We can see a young man in the foreground and five girls in the background. They are practise ballet dancing. This is evident because they wear clothes ballet dance (tutu).

2/ Explain in what way these people are outsiders.

We can notice that on picture A the girl is too young to be pregnant, on picture B the young girl is competitive boxer while this sport is male dominated, and boy on picture C is a ballet dancer while this sport is rather feminine. This proves that they are not like other youth. They are outsiders.

3/ How do you react to each situation

Picture A: I think that the girl is too young to be pregnant. Moreover, she eats bad food and it's bad for the unborn child.

Picture B: I think it's good because there are not many girls boxer. And she can win a prize.

Picture C: I think it's infrequent to see a boy who practise ballet. However, it must be nice to watch...

Keny STANDING OUT

STANDING OUT

These three pictures are films stills

1.

  • On  picture number 1, there are two girls ( high-school juniors ) that are talking together. They are eating and speaking. Besides behind girls, there is a flag of the time of high-school. On the one hand the girl in the middle confides in her best about her future baby because she's pregnant and the girl is determined at have an abortion but on the other hand the girl decides with your parents of have a baby adopted. Moreover the girl is outsider because she's pregnant at the age of 16. And She's a future teenager mother that aware, confident and determided to have a baby adopted.

  • On picture number 2, the scene takes place on the boxing ring. There are one teenager and old men. In addition the girl is concentrate and determined for his match and the old men is the coach. The match is important for her carier. In addition , the girl is outsider because she does of the boxing. But the boxing is a sport of men. Thus , it is to difficult of integrated.

  • On picture number 3, there are many of girls and one boy on the dance floor that pratice ballet dancing. What's more the boy is outsider because he does of the ballet activity but this an activity of girl. It is the same problem as in the second picture.

Eventually, as for me, I congratulate three characters because I believe that it is difficult to be different others. They want to show that everybody can to have theirs dream.

Nagda's work on Standing Out

Standing Out

On the first picture, which is a scene from the movie Juno, we can see two teenage girls, probably high school juniors. One of them is pregnant. They're having lunch, eating on trays; the girl on the left, Juno, is probably talking to her friend about her pregnancy. She seems a little bit worried. Juno is an outsider as she's having a baby at only 16.
I think it must be very hard for teenage girls to be expecting. They don't know how or what to tell their parents, they don't know if they have to keep the baby, have an abortion or give it up. Raising a child at 16 must be difficult. I have a lot of respect for teenage girls who decide to keep their baby. It's really brave. But these kind of things happen more and more often. I recently saw a story about a high school in Memphis where 90 girls were pregnant or already had a baby. 90!

The second picture is a still from Million Dollar Baby. There are two characters, Frankie and Maggie, standing on a boxing ring. We can see some people in the back. Frankie is probably giving some advices to Maggie. She looks confident, focused and determined, as if nothing or no one could stop her. She's getting ready to fight. She is an outsider because she's a woman doing a man sport. It's not something usual, we don't see that very often.
In my opinon, it is a good thing. Maggie is the proof that women can fight like men! I wouldn't do it, but I completely support girls who have the courage to.

The last one is a scene from Billy Elliot. We can see a boy, Billy Elliot, practising ballet with five girls behind him. Of course, he's not wearing a tutu, but the girls are. Billy seems concentrated. His situation is similar to Maggie's on Million Dollar Baby;  and once again, if he likes what he does, it's good for him. It must be weird for people to see a boy doing ballet though. But I'd love to see that!

Work about Juno, Million dollar baby and ? BY JULIE

1. On picture A we can see a pregnant girl, who is speaking with another teenage girl. Maybe they are in the cafeteria of their school. They are eating fast-food. Because we can see a tray with Coca-Cola, and sandwiches.

On picture B we can see a girl, with an old man. They are on a boxing ring, because we can see lot of people behind they and we see the ropes of a ring. They look like worried. Maybe because her opponent is very impressive.

On picture C we can see a young boy, and lot of young girls who wear a tutu. So I am sure they are ballets dancer. The boy is concentrate and confident. They are in dance-room and they are dancing.

2. The girl in picture A : Juno, is outsider because she is young. I think she have aproximatly sixteen years old, and she will be teenage mother. Normaly young girl don't have children! Because they have to do studies and take advantages of their life.

The girl in picture B : Maggie, is a strange person. Because generaly the boxe is for men. And she is a pretty girl who look like young. So it's surprising that she do boxing ring.

The boy in picture C, is strange. Because he is young and he likes ballet dancing. And normaly little boys prefer play football, cars and other things for men than practise ballet dancing.

3. If I was the girl of picture A, I would have an absorbtion because I am young, and I have lot things to do before be pregnant. I think I will speak about that at my parents if I be pregnant, because they are here to help me, and take the good decision.
But she have lots of possibility. She can keep the baby and bring up alone, or with her parents. Or she can confide her baby, to people who we would have an adoptive baby.

I think sports are for everybody so for me a girl who do boxe, is almost normally. Every people can do what they want, if Maggie wants to be professional boxers she can!!
I have already think to playing boxe, but my mother doesn't want because she say : "They will broke your nose". So I have not do boxe.

I said that every people can do what they want, it's true. But for me dance especially ballet dancing is for girl because a man with a tutu is ridiculous... When I see a man with a tutu I think : Oh it's a boy but... he looks like a girl!!  But if he likes that it's good for him. And he can be professional ballet dancer, and loves what he do!
Me if I was a man I think I will prefer play football, with my friends!

Brandon's work about "standing out"

Standing Out!

Description:
In picture A, the scene takes place in a bedroom. There are two teenage girls. They are eating and the girl who is pregnant is confiding in her friend.
In picture B, the scene takes place in the boxingring. There are a girl and a gentleman. He is speaking to her. In order to say to keep concentrate for the match.
In picture C, the scene takes place in a danceroom. There are several girls and a boy. They are practicing ballet.

Why they are outstanding?
In picture A, the teenage girl is pregnant. However, she is very young!
In picture B, the boxer is a girl. I have never seen girls in a boxing ring yet!
In picture C, the boy is practicing ballet. He is the only boy with a lot of girls.

My reaction...
I am worry to see her situation because she is too much young. I do not know if she choose to be pregnant but if this is the case, I really wonder if she is aware of her decision! What she will say to her parents? She can lie and tell to them "I have a baby adopted" but for her age, it can not be logic or we can feel that she is lying. Maybe she confide in her friend to speak about the abortion. I'm agree with her because this kind of decision is very hard to take alone... I think that she has to speak about it with adults.
It is strange to see a girl in a boxing ring because I always seen boys and not girls. She looks very determined and confident!
He looks very concentrate. It is hard to practice this sort of dance in public when we are a boy... Moreover, he is the only boy with many girls. As for me, it is normal to see a boy who is dancing ballet. It is a style as the others but people see this kind of dance only with girls and not boys.

ilakkiya' works standing out

The first situation  : It takes place in a high school .There are two teenage girls ,one is pregnant and  other is not .They are eating fast food. The pregnant girl is confide in her friend. She is an outsider because is a teenage pregnant girl . If this situation I react very bad because is very difficult to bringing up a baby .

The seconde situation  :It takes place in a boxing ring. There are two personne, one is girl and other is a old man I think he is a boxing master  .She is concentrating on the boxing fight. She is an  outsider because girls do not practice boxing but she is do .

The third situation: It takes place on a dance floor. there is a only one boy who practicing ballet dance with many girls wear tutu and practicing ballet dance  . He is an ousider because his only one boy to do ballet dance and there is not boys favorite hobbys.

Morgane.C's work about standing out

The first picture is a scene toke from the movie Juno. On this picture we can see  two teenage girls who are sit. They are eating some junkfood. The girl at the left is pregnant and she's maybe confids in the other girl because she will be a teenage mother. Maybe she talks about what she will do when she will birth : abandon her baby or assume and bring up the baby. Or maybe she says she will have an abortion.

The second picture is a scene toke from the movie Million Dollar Baby. We can see a woman on a boxing ring. She looks confident. There is a man behind her, he is probably her coach. She's standing out because boxing is useally a sport practiced  by men.

The last picture is a scene toke from the movie Billy Elliot. We can see children who practricing ballet. There is only on boy among the girls, he looks concentrated and serious. That's why he's standing out, because it's original to see a boy who practricing dance because it's rather a girl activity. Moreover, we can notice him because he does not have the same clothes as the girls.

Marie L 's work about out standing

      STANDING OUT

      > This picture is a capture of a film called "Juno". We can see two girls, they are probably high-school juniors. They are eating a fast food meal inside a display stand where we can see the flag of the school's sport team. One of them is pregnant and I think she intends to keep her baby because her belly is quite big so she has been pregnant for more than three months. She will soon be a teenage mother. We can think that she is confiding in her best friend.
This young girl is outstanding because she is around sixteen years old and she is already expecting a baby! She is too young to bring up alone a child.
If I was in her situation I would not really know what to do. But I rather believe that I would have an abortion. According to me I want to make the most of my youth and continue my studies so that later, I may be able to bring up my children the best I can.

      > The picture B is a scene of "million dollars baby". We see an old man and a teenage girl in a boxing ring. In the background we make out the public. Caracters look very concentrate because the girl is going to start a fighting. She is confident but her coach seems a little bit worried. He is encouraging her and giving her advices.
This situation is unusual because not many girls practice boxing. It is rather a boy's sport. I do not want to say that girls are not allowed to practice boxing but that, most of the time, it is boys that we see on a boxing ring.
I will never be in her situation because I hate boxing, but when I see her, I think she is brave and I hope that she will win the match!

      > The picture C is a freeze frame of "Billy Elliot". We see a young boy about twelve years old and five young girls dancing. They are ballets dancers and they are training in a dancing room. The boy wears a tank top and shorts and girls are all wearing tutu. The child looks concentrated, determinate and confident. I think his goal is to show that even boys can take part in classical dance.
This boy is outstanding because, in general not many boys practice ballet. But they can take part in this activity if they want and love it.
Before this work I have already seen this film so I know that dance is the boy 's passion. So I am admiring and happy that he does what he likes because lot of people don't accept that boys dance ballet.

I would finish by:  everybody (without exception) must do his hobby without be careful at other's opinions.

Charline's work about "Standing out".

I can see on the picture A two high-school junior sit down, going to eat fast food (hamburger, soda..) we can see a first girl pregnant and maybe she confides her fears to her friend because she would be a teenage mother.
On a picture B, I can see a teenage girl sits in a boxing ring, just before a match, she looks like confident and determined , Behind her we can see a man , (maybe her father) very concentrate for the evenment.
Finally, We can see on picture C children going to practise ballet dancing.
In the foreground , I can see a little boy , and behind there are lots of girls.

I find photo A interesting because it concerns many girls of our generation. In this situation, we would ask ourselves many questions such as: Shoud I have an abortion? Must I abandon my child ? It's uncommun to see girl in this situation , it's standing out.
A picture B is special because we are used to see men in a boxing ring, But there is a girl ! it's for that , this girl is standing out.
I have never seen a boy going to practise ballet dancing , NEVER ! because this is a girl's sport. So as for me , this boy is realy standing out.

Joany's work on Standing out !

1. In the pictures . . .
    A) There are two girls, I think they are high school juniors because there is a big fly of a dancing team in a display window. They are eating fast food because they have food on their laps and I think the girl who is pregnant confides in her friend.

   B) There are an old man and a young woman in a boxing ring. I can see the woman is very determined.

   C) There are one boy and little girls who wear tutus. They are practicing ballet.

2
.
A) This girl is outsider because she is pregnant, she is going to be a teenage mother. I think she cannot have an abortion because her stomach is very big but she can keep the child or do an abandon in an orphanage. And then people who cannot have children, can have a baby adopted.

   B) This woman is outsider because she is a girl in a men's sport. I think she is going to have a boxing match and she is very concentrated.

   C) This boy is outsider because he is a ballet dancer. In ballet, there are lots of girls and not many boys.

3
.
If I was in each situation, maybe I would abandon because it will be very hard for me, or I would try to be confidente and I would encourage myself  to continue. Obviously, I would confide in my best friend because she can say me if she is agree or disagree with my choices, I love her opinion
!

Marion's work on Standing out

I'm going to give answers on differents questions of Standing out:

1.
In the picture A, I can see two girls, they are junior high school. They are speaking and eating, maybe in her school. I think, they are 16 years old but the first girl is pregnant. I believe the girl who is pregnant, she speaks to have an abortion but it is so late, maybe she is not confident and aware. She is not ready for keep and bring up a baby at her age. She needs confide to her friend.

In the picture B, I can see a man, he speaks to a girl who is perhaps 16. I believe, they are in the boxing ring. The girl is very concentrated because she wants win the match. And in the background, we can see a lot of people who are seeing the match.

In the picture C, I can see a young boy. He are wearing a short and a tee-shirt. He practices classical dance. Behind him, there are 5 girls with tutus. I think, he is not happy to do the classical dance.

2.
A- The girl is out standing because she is 16 and she is pregnant. As for me, it is very young to have a baby. And for her age, it is very hard to bring up a baby. Because she is always at school.

B- The girl is out standing because she is a woman who is doing a men sport. She is very concentrated and confident.

C- The boy is out standing because he practices classical dance with many girls. Globally, we do not see a boy practising classical dance.

3.
A- I disagree with this situation because as for me, she is so young for be pregnant. I hope for her she is aware what did she do.

B- I agree with her because she is interesting about this sport. It is great what the girl is so determined.

C- I agree with him because I have not often seen a boy practice classical dance.

Jonathan's work about standing out

Standing out

Picture A :   There are two high-school juniors , girls are maybe 16 years old . They eating in fast food restaurants because there are trays . The girl in the midle is pregnant , is a teenage mother . She need confide at her friend about have an abortion or keep and bring up this baby . This picture shoked me because it's exeptional to see a teenage mother .
Picture B We can see an old man  maybe a coach with a woman . In the backgroung we can see lot of people. The scene takes place during a boxing match . The girl and the old man are concentrated because the battle will start .

Picture C  : There are a little boy in the midle and in the background there are girls . Maybe the little boy want to be a ballet . The boy is wrearing a short and a T-shirt  and girls are wearing tutu . The scene takes place during a practise maybe for a ballet dancing . The picture is fun because it is extraordinary that a boy  practise ballet . I think that they have courage because they are differand don't hide it .

Gayane's wroke on standing out

In the picture A, we can see two girls who are speaking and eating in the school junior. Maybe this girls are best friends because the girl who was pregnant confide in her friend.
The girl is out standing because she is pregnant. she don't know what she can do. She imagine all works if the baby come into the world, she 'll own keep the baby, bring up the baby ect...But she's friend conseil to him an abortion.
In my opinion, the girl is so young for be pregnant. She can had an abortion if she want or I don't know come into the world a baby is not bad.

In the picture B, we can see a man who speaking to a girl, I suppose it's her entraineur. We can see lots of people behind their. The girl was concentrate because she is on the fight. She is very confident. She was determined to win.
The girl is out standing because she practise a men sport.
I agree with she because if she likes this sports she can practise that.

In the picture C, we can see a litlle boy who's dancing classical danse. Behind him there are 5 girls with a tutu. Maybe he will be a ballet dancer.
This picture is very funny in my opinion because I have never seen a boy who doing classical dance.

Ines's work about standing out

I'm going to answer the questions :

1/ Describe each picture birefly  : place, characters, situation ...

Picture A --> There are two girls, both are eating. Maybe it is in a cafeteria because they have a tray on their laps. These girls are about sixteen but one is pregnant.

Picture B --> We can see an old man who is speaking to a young girl about seventeen. In the background, we can see a lot of people, and in the foreground, the old man and the girl are in a boxing ring, so I think that the scene takes place in a stadium ! There are both concentrated.

Picture C --> In this photograph, there is a little boy about seven who wears a short and a tankshirt . He is dancing classical dance. We can say that because in the background, there are five girls about seven with a tutu.

2/ Explain in what these people are outsider.

In the picture A, the girl is outsider because she is about sixteen and she is pregnant. She will be a teenage mother !
In the photograph B, the yong girl is outsider because she practices boxing although she is a girl.

The boy in the picure C is outsider because I have never seen a boy practices ballet !

3/How do you react to each situation ?

The picture A drawns my attention, because it is not everydays we see a yong girl about sixteen pregnant.

At the beginnig, I did not understood why this photograph is outsider, but after, I understood that the girl is on a ring.

When I saw the last picture, I laughed because it is funny to see a boy practicing ballet ! The boy is very concentred.

Morgane R's work about "Out Standing"

In picture A, we see two teenage girls siting on the floor probably in their high school.  They are eating and talking. One of them is pregnant. She is confiding in her friend. She is maybe still undecided  if she must to keep her baby, if she will can to bring up him or if she must to abandon him. Maybe her friend wants to help her make a decision.
This girl is outstanding because it's uncommun to see a teenage mother. In general, if a teenage is pregnant, she has an abortion.

In picture B, we can see a girl in a boxing ring. Behind her, there is her coach. She looks concentrate, determined and confident. The math will probably start soon  . Her coach is looking after her, he is encouraging her. He is puting her in confidance.
There are not many girls who are doing this sport, this is why she is standing out.

In picture C, there is a ballet dancer. It is a young boy. He is practising ballet dancing among girls in tutu. He looks concentrate.
He is outstanding because there are a lot of prejudice on the ballet dancing. People think it is a girl's sport.

I think there are outstanding just because people are not open minded.

Manuel's work on standing out !

                                                    Standing out

1) Descibe each picture briefly : place, characters, situation...

                                      -   In the pictures A -
                                   There are two young girls.
                                    One of them is pregnant.
They are having lunch in a fast food.

                                        --  In the picture B --
We can see an old man,
                                         and a young woman.
They are in the a boxing ring.

                                      --- In the pictures C ---
We was can see a boy in a dance class.
He is the only boy with all the girls.
